PRIVATE OVERNIGHT BOARD & TRAINS
***Evaluation process is required in advance of accepting any board and train candidates. If accepted, an initial consult in home is required before beginning the board and train program.
First off, let me start off by saying a board and train should be referred to as a “board & raise.” It is simply not possible to fully train a dog or puppy to the point of being “finished” in the matter of a few weeks. And, finished is certainly left for interpretation pending an individual’s goals. A board and train is about laying the foundation to good habits by starting to teach cues, skills, and alternatives. All of these pieces then MUST be followed through by educating the owner and working to translate the skills in the dog’s primary environment.
A formal board and train program, three weeks in duration which includes owner involvement both before and after the program.
A great way to get a good foundation and continue skill building!
No minimum time or lesson requirements! Simply can be used as a training add-on to your dog’s overnight stay!
Will cover a variety of skills, movements, building handler engagement, and exposure — based on the trainer’s discretion!
If you have a puppy under eight months old, our Puppy Development Program in combination with one-on-one lessons or a board and train may be just what you are looking for!
Board & Train expectations:
Accountability and upholding skills matters! While it can be wonderful to send your dog off for training, most people think when their dog returns, it automatically upholds perfect skills and manners without consistency, time, or effort on the human end. I have news for you, it can take weeks into months into years of training to achieve the skills and criteria you may be looking for; especially if you have a history of behaviors that were poorly managed or rehearsed on a regular basis. YOU also need to work on developing your skills, techniques and timing to effectively communicate with the dog. My recommendation: be part of the training process in some capacity!
Just like a person, if you want to achieve a particular skill, you must practice to remain good at it…and remain practicing to become great under all circumstances.
